History of the venue

La Torre di Pila, located approximately 10 kilometers from Perugia’s historic center, is a historic villa with origins dating back to the 15th century. Initially constructed as a watchtower, it was remodeled in the 18th century by the Marquises of Monaldi, a local noble family, who transformed the tower into a grand villa.

In the early 20th century, the property came under the ownership of the Bartocci family and was eventually donated to the city. In 1930, Count Francesco Guardabassi, an Italian artist and opera singer from Perugia, purchased the estate. He commissioned Roman architect Ugo Tarchi to redesign the mansion, drawing inspiration from Roman and Tuscan Renaissance models, resulting in the villa’s present-day form.

Today, La Torre di Pila stands as a testament to its rich historical legacy, seamlessly blending medieval architecture with Renaissance influences. The stone tower, now a furnished lookout room, offers sweeping views of the surrounding Umbrian countryside, including vistas of historic cities such as Assisi, Spoleto, and Siena.

The villa has been meticulously restored to serve as a high-end venue for weddings and special events, providing an intimate atmosphere amidst lush gardens and breathtaking landscapes. Its strategic location near Perugia makes it an ideal base for exploring the rich cultural heritage of Umbria and neighboring regions.

La Torre di Pila’s evolution from a 15th-century watchtower to a luxurious villa reflects the architectural and cultural transformations of the region, embodying the historical depth and beauty of Umbria.
